Tales from the Heart

Banff 2009, 2:57, Dir: Tyler Jordan, Saki Murotani, Price Morgan & Afshin Vahabzadeh

Tales from the Heart is a collaboration between four artists, Tyler Jordan, Price Morgan, Saki Murotani and Afshin Vahabzadeh, collectively known as DROOLART. After agreeing their guiding theme for this piece would be the human heart and restricting themselves to a black, white and red colour scheme, Jordan, Morgan, Murotani and Vahabzadeh went off separately to create their own content. Employing a wide range of animation techniques and styles ranging from hand drawing to applying complex particle systems they each came up with surreal, often beautiful imagery. A week later the quartet reunited to mash it all up into a polished, psychedelic mix of sound and “chaotic eye candy” as they call it. In their words, Tales from the Heart is “a wild ride through the body, the gutter and the cosmos”.

DROOLART

DROOLART is Tyler Jordan, Price Morgan, Saki Murotani and Afshin Vahabzadeh. The four designers and animators met in 2007 at the Banff Centre’s Film and Media Department and were united by a common love of art and design in motion. DROOLART’s interests range from interactive web design to animation and compositing to high end 3D rendering. Jordan, Morgan, Murotani and Vahabzadeh maintain a team-centred approach when creating together, deriving concepts through group discussion and giving each member a voice in determining the direction of a project.
